{or the purposes of this Blog a fictional commander for Army Group C is used - General Von Tiddenheim- who also appeared in a couple of early blog posts on Somewhere in England  (e.g. A Planning Meeting ) }
 ---oXo---

Von Tiddenheim has just completed a briefing for the invasion of Britain, for Army Group C in the flank attack on Weymouth and adjoining areas....

Von Tiddenheim: thank you for your time gentlemen, I look forward to seeing your detailed plans for each division - 1st & 2nd waves etc - plus proposed drop zones for paratroops.

Lt Abel went out to the waiting Storch ...
Soon they were off and heading across the channel to Somewhere in England ....

Church Lych Gate

A lych gate for the scenics, this will go with the church I have rather nicely...
The lych gate is a 1/48 Dolls House accessory from Petite Properties; I used some spare bits of plastic tiling for the roof and shortened the roof supports a bit,  using some of my stone paper sheet to do the walls,  plus some Metcalfe paving for the base.

Airfield ancilliary buildings - work in progress

Currently making some ancilliary buildings for the airfield. Two barrack blocks, stores and a small office/store

Need to finish off the roofs, then paint up - after that will stick on windows cut out from a printed sheet.

Airfield buildings - work in progress

I've had one of those days when making things takes off and all comes together.  Today I worked on some basic neutral airfield buildings for WW2,  making a basic control tower and two low relief hangars

I found some free downloadable PDFs here - http://www.toy-plane.co.uk/airfield-buildings - one of which was a control tower, I printed out a couple of them and made up the following, improvising the hand rail with cardboard and a spare piece of plastic ladder.

For the hangars, I made up something similar to the Bellman Hangar. They have a foamboard shell with cardboard roof, cardboard doors and runners. I modelled one with a door part open.

All of these will be painted up and used in story line posts with other suitable buildings and accessories; either on this blog for a german airfield or a british one on Somewhere in England.

German Convoy Attacked ... (game report)

A german convoy carrying some of the latest radio equipment for german forces in Normandy is targetted by the resistance under direction of two british commandos.

---oXo---

The attacking force waits in cover to hit the front of the convoy
They duck down out of sight as a german patrol vehicle passes them on the way to the next town on the route
Other groups of resistance fighters wait in cover along the road .....
The german convoy moves down the road ....
The front of the convoy comes under fire, the two lead motorbikes are shot up ...
The back of the convoy is hit and a kubelwagon is knocked over by grenade blasts ...
As the first vehicle at the front of the convoy bursts into flame the german infantry escort scrambles out of their lorries ....
and open fire, spraying the nearby hedges with SMG fire ....
The resistance fighters are taking casualties from german fire ....
The lorry at back of the convoy is hit and the germans nearby are killed by LMG fire from the nearby wood, however the resistance have taken too many casualties and decide to withdraw...
The resistance melt away into the nearby woodland.  The german convoy has taken a beating but the lorry with radio equipment has not been damaged - troops from the nearby town soon some to their aid...
